Joyce was rushed this morning.

Hi Everyone, Good afternoon. I had to rush Joyce to the vet this morning because the sight was seeping a pinkish fluid. Last night it got very irritated and this morning it got redder and start discharging a liquid. What can I say… I was very scared and concerned. I hate to see my little girl go through this. The vet says he thinks it may be the same infection that lead to her amputation. Joyce will be staying at the vet until it is safe to bring her back home. I’m trying to be strong, I feel in my bones that she will be okay. It just killed me to see her unable to get up this morning after she was hopping around couple days ago. Any emotional support is appreciated! If you have guys have gone through similar situations please share it with me. Please keep us in your prayers. I will keep you guys updated on her well being.

  1. Have they figured out what kind of infection it is yet? I am so sorry she is back in the hospital. Did they say anything more about the discharge? I hope they culture it so they can prescribe a medication that will work on that particular infection, if that is what it is.
What you described sounds like a seroma, but what I am hearing sounds like it might be more than that?
We have had several come in that had really bad infections, and with proper care they were able to get them under control if that helps.
Please post with more information when you are able, and we will be keeping fingers, toes, paws, and tails crossed for you!

    1. They found that she had a lot of pus around the staples. The incision was reopened from certain areas to allow all that to come out. A drain tube has been added to the area to flush all the nasty stuff. They’ve got her on heavy antibiotics to stabilize her. It’s more than likely she will be with her vet until Saturday, if it’s necessary they will keep her longer. Thank you so much ❤️ I will definitely keep you all updated!

  2. WOW!!! Just catching up on your amazing Joyce!

And she is amaz and she is bea and she is sow sweet AND, she is a Warrior!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed watching he video you put together. She clearly is so loved and adored! Your daughter is so gentle with her…sweet. ❤

Now, about that dang infection! Good for you for recognizing it needed attention! When you first started describing it, my first thought was a seroma (fluid build up that happens sometimes after amps). But then when you described the pus, and her history of a prior infection etc,, looked like it might indeed be that bum infection showing up. Ugh!

Again, good job of staying on top of it. And yes, infections do show up sometimes after this type of surgery, even without having one before like sweet Joyce did.

So yes, antibiotics and drain and a pajama pawty st rhe Vet for a few days should take care of it.

Ditto Jackie (paws) about definitely getting a culture done.

Sorry you are having this hurdle, but she is getting good quality car.

We’ll be cheering for her! Keep us posted.

  3. Ohh no! Well at least you acted on it quickly, that’s important and so helpful. This isn’t too out of the ordinary and as long as your vet is taking action she’s already on the way to healing.

Feel free to post in our forums too, we are here to help.

    1. It was a tough week, this house definitely feels empty without my little furry baby, but I’m happy to share that she’s coming home tomorrow. I think that until she’s home, I’ll be able to get good sleep! Warm hugs from Joyce and I

    1. Yes! I’m so excited to say that I’ve updated with great news. The site is looking SO MUCH BETTER a than what it was looking like Wednesday. She was put on heavy antibiotics and (2) drain tubes were set in place to ensure all the nasty stuff came out. I visited her today and drain tubes are out! She’s most likely coming home tomorrow!
